  •  Hi Friederika, Craft projects are fun. What a great idea to recycle your dad's bow ties! I had a friend who made a quilt out of tie scraps and it came out beautiful, it was a colorful, rich piece once completed. I truly believe that anyone can quilt. I don't think that it is very hard to learn, but I guess it depends on what you pick for your first pattern. Feel free to ask questions on the discussion board, I'm sure there are many like you and many who would be happy to help you get started.

  •  Hi Friederika and welcome. What a great reason to start quilting! There's definitely something special about the gift of a quilt and there are many great causes to donate quilts to. The one I am the most familiar with is Project Linus (http://www.projectlinus.org/). Feel free to share information about the organization that most interests you on the discussion board, as other quilters may be interested too.
